With an increase in the number of men requiring Asian wear for formal functions, themed events and weddings, it is our pleasure to introduce a unique range of stylish Sherwani suits and accessories to hire for all occasions.
Below is a brief outline on the types of Sherwani suits and accessories available and what should typically be worn when attending functions.
What is a Sherwani suit?
A Sherwani suit is a fashionable, yet traditional, outfit worn by Asian men. It is a close fitting jacket of knee length or longer with a nehru collar and tight fitting churidar bottoms.
In the UK, Sherwani suits have always been popular as an outfit which can be worn at formal events and weddings. In India, the Sherwani suit is worn on formal occasions and is the national dress for men in Pakistan.
Sherwani suits look elegant as they fuse the best of both eastern and western fashion. They are typical attire for Asian weddings, and more recently, for themed events such as Bollywood parties.
Within our range, each Sherwani suit comes with matching ivory or black bottoms (churidar) that are styled such that they have a draw string waist and are baggy and puffed up around the waist and groin area and become tapered as they fall to the ankle. They are extended in length so that there is a gather around the ankle. It is advisable to wear a vest or fitted t-shirt under the Sherwani suit for comfort.
Sherwani suits & functions
Weddings – it is customary for guests not to wear black. As such, depending on your budget, we would recommend either the AH426 style in ivory or navy with a matching scarf. If you can stretch your budget a bit further, we would recommend the AH413 style in gold or the AH429 style in maroon. A scarf is optional and is not necessary.
Black tie or formal function – we would recommend the three quarter length AH421 style in black with formal dress trousers. For the more ‘traditional’ look, you may want to wear black churidar bottoms.
Themed parties – any of the styles that we have on offer would be suitable for a themed party. In particular, we would recommend the AH429 style in white with any colour scarf as this would add some flair and colour. A matching hat (pagdi) would add the finishing touch!
Accessories
Amongst the accessories that go well with a Sherwani, we would recommend a scarf (stole), which is draped around the neck. The colour of the scarf depends upon the colour of the Sherwani, the more popular colours being red/maroon, gold or silver.
For footwear, mojdis (shoes) make up the best options. However, if you find these uncomfortable many men wear sandals. The final accessory is the pagdi which will enhance any outfit and give a regal aura of elegance and nobility. |
